When it says, Kids Stay Free, do they really mean it?

Wouldn't you love to take your kids to an island in the Caribbean and spend a week on the beach.
As always, budget is a concern. Not only that, everyone wants the best deal they can get.
So when you see an Advertisement that says "Kids Stay Free" you jump on it. Right?
But is it a good deal? Do kids really stay for free? Yes and No.
There is the implication or assumption that you pay nothing for your kids to travel with you to the resort. This is not the case, Children do not travel free of charge.
However, you do get a discount on the food & accommodations for your children.
Let's do the math
All-inclusive vacation package pricing is broken down like this: Base Fare + (fees & taxes) = price per person
The base fare is made up of:
- Airplane ticket & transfers
- Hotel food & accommodations
It is this second part that is free. The resort has agreed that if you have two adults in a room paying full price, then you can have up to two children in the same room for free. There is usually an age restriction of ages 2 - 12.
Let's look at an example
Here is pricing for a:
- 4 star resort in Cayo Coco, Cuba
- 7 nights
- January 15th - 22nd 2022.
- Adult price - $719 + $416 = $1135 pp
- Child price - $259 + $416 = $675 pp
- Family of four total price = $1350
You can see that you still pay for the flight and the fees and taxes. The resort has offered their portion for free.
Is it a good DEAL? Yes.
The regular price for a child at this resort is $459 + $416 = $875
You are saving $200 per child.
So look for the "Kids Stay free" deals. They can save you a lot of money.
